3 Line Tales, Week 3: Cheshire

This is my submission for 3 Line Tales, Week 3.  I’m sorry Sonya, I went over by a line… I  had to.  I am all for being flogged if necessary.

I used a quote this week.  Looking up at that moon, the idea struck me like a lightning bolt.  One of my most beloved characters in one of the greatest stories ever told.  I couldn’t resist.

“But I don’t want to go among mad people,” Alice remarked.

“Oh, you ca’n’t help that,” said the Cat:  “we’re all mad here.  I’m mad.  You’re mad.”

“How do you know I’m mad?”  said Alice.

“You must be,” said the Cat, “or you wouldn’t have come here.”

~Welcome to Wonderland~

My eternal gratitude to Lewis Carroll and his timeless work, “Alice in Wonderland”.  He defined so perfectly the insanity that is a child’s imagination.  This work never ceases to remind me of the limitless possibilities I tend to lose track of more and more the older I get…

  1. Love that quote & you know we share a love for the Cheshire cat! Alice: Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here? The Cheshire Cat: That depends a great deal on where you want to get to. Alice: I don’t care much where… The Cheshire Cat: Then it really doesn’t matter which way you go!

  2. Lovely three line story! And Alice in Wonderland is marvelous, isn’t it? I of course saw the Disney film as a child, but it wasn’t until adulthood that I read the original book, and it was even madder and zanier than I could have imagined. Thank you for sharing!

  3. 😀 Speaking of mad, I also love this “mad” quote:
“Mad Matter: “Have I gone mad?”
Alice: “I’m afraid so. You’re entirely bonkers. But I’ll tell you a secret. All the best people are.”
